House designs for Small - Narrow Lots
A Small Lot is a block of land with an area less 450m2,
or with an average width of less than 15
metres.
A typical Small Lot is 10 metres wide and 40 metres deep.
In 2004 the Brisbane City Council introduced a new Small Lot
Code which changed the rules for the
design of houses that can be built on the small - narrow
lend.
One of the major changes introduced by the new Small Lot Code
was that the minimum distance
required between a house and the side boundaries of the land
was increased from
1 metre to 1.5 metres - the houses on 10 metre wide
lots could only be 7 metres wide.
